FMS Fleet — Privacy Policy

Last updated 7 September 2026. Applies to the FMS Fleet apps for iPhone and Android.

FMS Fleet is a tool for looking at a fleet you already have an account for. It has no accounts of its own, no advertising, and no analytics. It talks to one server: the FMS console your account belongs to.

What the app sends off your phone

WhatWhenWhy
Your email address and password When you sign in To authenticate you against the FMS platform. The password is used for that one request and is never stored on the phone.
Your device's location Only if you place a point of interest at your own position and then save it Those coordinates become the saved point on your fleet account, exactly as if you had tapped that spot on the map.
The requests you make While using the app Reports, commands and searches are carried out by the FMS platform, so they are sent to it.

Location, specifically

The app asks for location permission the first time you press the locate button — never at launch. There is no background location: the app cannot read your position while it is closed, and it never tracks the phone itself. The vehicles you see report their own positions from their own GPS units to the FMS platform; that has nothing to do with your phone.

Location is read for three things. Two of them keep it on the device and send nothing: centring the map on you from the Live screen, and the same on the points-of-interest screen. The third does transmit it — placing a point of interest at your current position and saving it — and it is listed in the table above for that reason.

What stays on your phone

Kept in the operating system's own storage (UserDefaults on iOS, SharedPreferences on Android) and never transmitted:

Signing out removes the session token.

What the app does not do

Notifications

Fleet alerts reach you two ways. While the app is open it raises them itself, from data it has already fetched. So that an alert can also reach you while the app is closed, the app registers a notification token with Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging and gives that token to the FMS platform, which sends the alert through Google to your phone. The token identifies this installation, not you; it is replaced if you reinstall, and signing out removes it. An alert sent this way passes through Google's notification service, and its text names the object and what happened. Switch notifications off in the app's Settings and nothing is sent or registered.

Who else sees your data

Only the FMS platform hosting your fleet account, and whoever administers that account — typically your employer, or the operator who gave you the login. The app adds nobody. How that platform handles your data is governed by its own terms and by your agreement with the operator, not by this app.

Children

FMS Fleet is a workplace tool for fleet staff. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect anything from them.

Your account, and deleting it

Accounts are created and removed by your fleet operator on the FMS platform, not inside the app. To have your account and its data deleted, ask your fleet administrator, or write to the address below and we will put you in touch with them. Removing the app from your phone deletes everything it kept locally.

Changes

If the app starts handling data differently, this page changes with it, and so does the date at the top.
